The Odds

First-gen students face odds stacked against them.

Talent isn't the problem. Support is. Students who are the first in their family to attend college navigate everything alone: the paperwork, the finances, the pressure, the unknowns.

Real Stories

Coaches like you.

Our coaches are professionals from across Cincinnati. None of them are trained counselors. All of them show up.

Transition Coach

Stephanie & Tricia

Tricia arrived as a shy freshman. With Stephanie's guidance she secured an internship her first year, started running races, and now confidently introduces herself to anyone.

Transition Coach

Jordan & Ndeye

Jordan's consistent example empowered Ndeye to trust her own decisions. Their bond stretched beyond school to life skills, like learning to drive.

Career Coach

Stuart & Nick

Nick dreamed of being an aerospace engineer. Stuart, a UC grad himself, helped him navigate the university, opened doors with career introductions, and guided his internship search. Nick graduated with a job at Williams International, building jet engines.

Student Spotlight

From self-doubt to the NICU.

1

Starting Point

Martha arrived at college quiet, unsure of herself, and struggling to find her place.

2

The Coaching

Her coach Elena showed up consistently: listening, encouraging, and attending activities alongside her.

3

The Leap

Martha stretched herself with an international internship, far from home, and grew into a leadership role there and in the Level Up program.

4

The Outcome

Through Level Up's Launch Network she landed a NICU role at TriHealth. Today she speaks at events, mentors others, and is pursuing her master's in nursing.

Martha at work at TriHealth

"My coach helped me believe that I was capable of succeeding in college and life, even when I doubted myself. She encouraged me to apply for opportunities I wouldn't have gone for on my own."

The Experience

A real relationship. Not homework.

People assume coaching demands more time than they have. Here's what it actually looks like.

01

Commit two years, minimum

A meaningful relationship takes time. You'll walk alongside your scholar through two critical years, and many coaches choose to stick around well beyond that.

02

Connect weekly

A quick text, a phone call, a coffee. Consistent contact matters more than long sessions. Just show up for your scholar.

03

Meet monthly

At least once a month, connect in person. Share a meal, attend an event together, or simply sit and talk.

All in? About two hours a month. That's the whole footprint.

Your Year

Four anchor experiences.

We run the calendar. You bring the relationship. Every event is planned, organized, and hosted by Level Up.
